Although the work on this page is unframed, you have the option of receiving the painting framed. In this case, we would discuss your framing preferences following which I would send the art work directly to the framer. The cost of framing and shipping would be added to the price of the painting.

1. "My Garden Brings Me Untold Joys"
woman standing in garden (right)
unframed
watercolour, block print, ink
approx size 4 x 7 inches

All my paintings are done on 300lb hot press Fabriano Uno paper.
The paper is the thickest watercolour paper available and is
made from 100% cotton.

2.  "Clear Water"
grey fish (left)
unframed
acrylic monoprint
approx size 4 x 6 inches

For those of you just learning about different printing techniques, one way to produce a mono print is by painting an image onto one surface and then placing it face down onto your paper, thereby transfering the image.  Multiple prints are impossible with this type of print...therefore the name "monoprint".

3. "Confidence"
standing clown (right)
unframed
acrylic monoprint with watercolour
approx 6 x 4 inches

This one is done with the same technique as the fish above.  I did the body of the clown with the monoprint technique of painting it on a smooth surface and then placing it face down on the paper. Afterwards, with a brush, I did the face and hands with watercolour and ink. What's the reason for doing a monoprint?  I do it because it results in a certain look that is different from applying paint directly to the paper with a brush. This look is perfectly suited to a mood I want for particular pieces.

4. "Garter Snake"
snake on a green background (left)
unframed
acrylic block print and watercolour
approx size 6 x 5 inches

I have a real fondness for snakes...undoubtedly because I have never been bitten by a poisonous one or been chased by a cobra.

I have drawn very dead stuffed snakes in museums. However, I was lucky to have the chance to draw this live garter snake when my neighbours found one in their yard and put it in an aquarium box for a day before releasing it again.

6. "Under the Blossoming Tree"

unframed
watercolour, block printing, ink
approx size 4 x 7 inches

  This is the drawing from
  my sketchbook on which
  this painting is based.

When I go to concerts I often bring my sketch book
to get a few drawings of the musicians.
And, then later I use the drawings to do paintings
when I'm back in my studio

 7. "Seeking the Sun"

8. "Cemetery Angel"
grey angel (left)
unframed
acrylic monoprint
approx size 7 x 5 inches

I imagine that this angel was found on a tombstone. It was made by
the wind and rain.

9. "In My Garden There Are Many Wonders"
